Lifting the Moment in Minsk
Gemar were proud sponsors of a balloon seminar in Minsk on November 26th and 27th, it really was a spectacular event!
The workshop was organised by SHARTE Belarus and YARCHEBEL. It was a fantastic opportunity for 19 participants to gather from 13 different cities in Belarus, all of them eager to learn more about balloon art from the talented instructors, Anatoly and Sergey Shevchenko.
Over two days the participants worked both individually and as a team to learn new techniques and create a stunning display inspired by “The Little Mermaid.” From tiny details like crabs and small fish, to huge sculptures of Poseidon, a giant octopus and the Little Mermaid herself, this was a wonderful example of balloon art at it’s finest. The finished installation brought joy and wonder to everyone who was lucky enough to see it, taking them on an adventure to discover a new world under the sea.
When the seminar was over the beautiful display was far too special to simply dismantle, it had the potential to bring joy to so many. Instead the figures and other decorative elements were presented to children, with the help of the Mogilev branch of the Belarusian Children’s Fund. In this way the sculptures could continue to inspire and lift the moment, long after the artists who made them had returned home.
The balloons were presented to:
- Salihorsk city, charity concert “For you, with love!” for children with disabilities, dedicated to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities;
- Republican Clinical Center for Palliative Medical Care for Children, Minsk; and
- State Educational Institution “Secondary School No. 170 of Minsk” for the presentation of the “New Year’s Adventures in the Sea Kingdom” for children from large families and children with special needs of psychophysical development.
Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces was a very special moment, and something that speaks to the heart of what we do. Balloons are such a wonderful way to bring happiness and make any moment special, everyone involved with this event can be very proud of that achievement.
